Strawberry Superfly Open Event Changes to Skyline
Jen M. and Jake B. contacted me yesterday afternoon to confirm that the Superfly Open, scheduled for this week, (February 14- 20) will not be held at Strawberry reservoir but at Skyline further south. Due to difficult snow and ice conditions Strawberry is not suited for the competition this weekend. Skyline has received new snow this week with more in the forecast. Skyline also has a favorable wind forecast for the coming days. For more information please visit the North American Snowkite Tour I will post more contact info as soon as I get it so please check back.
For more info on the Skyline location Kite Utah has a great write-up.
I have done some investigation on lodging and this is what I found:
I pretty sure the most reasonably priced and cleanest place to stay in Mount Pleasant is the Horseshoe Mountain Lodge, unfortunately when I called today there are only rooms available for Thursday and Saturday nights, as there is a private school function this weekend. There is a great Mexican restaurant across the parking lot that is a life saver as for some bizarre reason this small town is almost completely devoid of places to eat and if you want a fru-fru coffee drink, forget about it!
After some investigation and a referral from the Horseshoe Mountain Inn I found the Fairview Retreat, in Fairview. I have not stayed in the facilities here but the website looks great and the manager, Jerry, is incredibly helpful. This lodge is a large seven room structure where guest have bedrooms and in some cases shared baths. The bonuses of the Fairview Retreat are that it has a large functional kitchen that all guest can use (Did I mention this area really doesn’t have places to eat?), it is very close to Skyline Drive and it is a reasonable price: $80/room. Give Jerry a call as I suspect she will fill up fast. 435-469-1668
Hope to see you there!
